Smiling family of three, the kind of household Kudo Care Dental in Irving sees together

Why a family dentist makes life easier

Juggling three dental offices, three sets of paperwork and three different days off work is how checkups get skipped. A family dentist in Irving who sees everyone, from a toddler’s first visit to a grandparent’s denture adjustment, keeps the whole household on track with one call and one trip.

It helps clinically, too. When we know a family, we notice patterns: cavity-prone teeth, gum disease, grinding or bite issues that tend to run in families. And kids who watch a parent sit calmly in the chair usually feel calmer themselves.

Care for every stage of life

  • Babies and toddlers: a first visit by age 1, fluoride varnish and coaching for parents. See children’s dentistry.
  • School-age kids: cleanings, sealants on new molars, tooth-colored fillings and help with playground and sports injuries.
  • Teens: wisdom tooth checks, questions about whitening, and straight talk about vaping and energy drinks.
  • Adults: cleanings, crowns, root canals, implants and cosmetic care, scheduled around work.
  • Older adults: gum care, dry mouth from medications, complete and partial dentures, and treatment planned around heart conditions, diabetes and blood thinners.

Back-to-back appointments for the whole household

Tell us how many people you’re bringing and we’ll line up appointments one after another, or side by side when two chairs are open, so the family is in and out in one trip. Saturdays work well for a lot of families because nobody misses school or work, and Wednesday evenings until 7 are another option.

Walk-ins are welcome during open hours if someone wakes up with a toothache, and same-day appointments are available. Kids with Texas Medicaid or CHIP and parents with PPO insurance or our membership can all be seen on the same visit.

A team that speaks your family’s language

Irving is one of the most diverse cities in North Texas, and many households here speak more than one language at the dinner table. Our team speaks English, Spanish and Vietnamese, and Dr. Chloe Kim speaks Korean. Grandparents can ask questions in the language they’re most comfortable with, and grown children don’t have to translate medical details for their own parents.

Information is also available in Español, Tiếng Việt and 한국어.

Dental, medical and vision under one roof

Kudo Care Dental is part of Kudo Care Center, which also has primary care and family medicine providers and an optometrist in the same building. For busy families, that can mean a doctor’s visit, an eye exam and everyone’s cleanings on the same trip.

It matters for health, too. Diabetes, heart conditions, pregnancy and many medications affect the mouth, and gum disease can make blood sugar harder to control. Because our dental and medical teams are down the hall from each other, we can coordinate when you want us to. Read more about gum disease and diabetes.

Simple habits that keep the whole family healthy

  • Help kids brush until they can tie their own shoes well, usually around age 7 or 8.
  • Use fluoride toothpaste for everyone: a rice-grain smear for kids under 3, a pea-size amount for ages 3 to 6.
  • Keep juice, soda and sports drinks to mealtimes; sipping all day bathes teeth in sugar and acid.
  • Floss once a day. For kids, start when two teeth touch.
  • Ask about dry mouth if anyone takes several daily medications; it raises cavity risk at any age.
  • Keep everyone’s cleanings and exams on the calendar, and book them together.

What to expect, step by step

  1. Tell us who’s coming

Call or book online and list each family member, their ages and any concerns.

  2. Share insurance details

Send PPO, Medicaid or CHIP information ahead so we can check benefits for everyone.

  3. Arrive together

Check in at the front desk; free parking is right outside.

  4. Back-to-back care

Each person gets their own exam and cleaning, scheduled one after another or side by side.

  5. One plan for the family

We summarize what each person needs and try to book follow-ups on the same day.

Cost, insurance & financing

Families often have a mix of coverage, and that’s fine. We accept most PPO dental plans and Texas Medicaid and CHIP for children 18 and under. For family members without insurance, the Kudo Care Concierge Membership covers preventive visits across dental, medical and vision, including dental cleanings, for a one-time $50 activation and a low monthly fee, with discounts on other care.

For larger treatment, financing through Cherry, Affirm and CareCredit is available, subject to approval, and we give you a written estimate first. Details are on our insurance and financing page.

FAQ

Family Dentistry: your questions, answered

Still have a question? Call (469) 706-0710 — a real person answers, in English, Spanish or Vietnamese.

What’s the difference between a family dentist and a general dentist?

A family dentist is a general dentist who sees patients of all ages, from toddlers to older adults. The training is the same; the difference is focus. A family practice is set up for kids and grandparents alike, with shorter kids’ visits, back-to-back scheduling and dentures under the same roof. All of our dentists are general dentists.

Can a family dentist see my toddler?

Yes. We see children from their first tooth or first birthday onward. Early visits are quick and gentle, and focus on prevention and coaching for parents. If a young child ever needs extensive treatment that’s better handled in a pediatric dental practice, we’ll explain why and help arrange a referral.

Can we book appointments for the whole family at once?

Yes. Let us know how many people are coming and we’ll schedule them back to back, or at the same time when chairs are available. Saturdays and Wednesday evenings work well for families juggling school and work. Kids with Medicaid or CHIP and parents with other coverage can all be seen on the same trip.

How often should my family go to the dentist?

Most people do well with a checkup and cleaning every six months. Some need visits more often, such as adults who’ve had gum disease, people with diabetes, or kids who get cavities easily. Toddlers should be seen by age 1. We’ll recommend a schedule for each person based on what we see, not a one-size-fits-all rule.

Do you treat grandparents with dentures or complex health conditions?

Yes. We make and adjust complete and partial dentures, offer implant-supported options and plan treatment around conditions like heart disease, diabetes and blood thinners. With your permission, we can coordinate with the medical providers in our building or your own doctor. We go at a comfortable pace and explain everything clearly, in English, Spanish, Vietnamese or Korean.

Is there a family dentist in Irving open on Sundays?

Yes. Kudo Care Dental is open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., plus weekdays. We’re at 3425 Grande Bulevar across from Irving Mall, a short drive from Las Colinas, Valley Ranch, Grand Prairie and Farmers Branch, with free on-site parking and a wheelchair-accessible entrance.

Can you help if someone in my family has a dental emergency?

Yes. Walk-ins are welcome seven days a week during open hours for toothaches, swelling, and broken or knocked-out teeth, for kids and adults alike. Call on your way so we can have a chair ready. If a child knocks out a baby tooth, don’t put it back in; just bring your child and the tooth so we can check the area.

Ready when you are — even on Sunday.

Request a time online in about a minute, call us, or simply walk in during open hours. We’ll take it from there.
